Editorial comments: This is an extract from the diary that Redon kept infrequently between 1867 and 1915. Unpublished during the artist's lifetime (he died in 1916), the diary was published in French in 1922 by Henri Floury, Paris. The text has none of a manifesto and isn't recognized as such by the critics.
