Die Blutorgel

[The Blood Organ]

Published in 1962 (end of May-June) as part of an action held by the artists: Nitsch, Muehl and Frohner wall themselves up in Muehler studio, the public being called to break the wall to free them three days later (« Ausmauerung ») . In the meanwhile, the artists produced junk sculptures (Muehl, Frohner) and a big painting painted with red pigment and blood (Nitsch). Die Blutorgel is both the title of a text and of an action.
